nothing to say

How many times I have opened this browser window, stared at the blank white box and closed it again?

Too many times.

There is nothing to write about. Priorities have shifted, nothing makes sense and … work, home, skydive. Thoughts circle the one thing only, but this isn’t ready for black&white yet.

another moment

Sitting on my balcony. Listening the clock ticking and birds yelling their good nights. The moon is slowly rising.

I saw my new work-city from 3 km today. Twice. Tampere is small! I had never realized before how small it is. It came as a total surprise to me.

Jumping at Tampere (Pirkkala) international airport was fun. OK, ok, the landing area is not where the planes take off or land (just a bit to the side behind a treeline), but the jump-plane uses the same runway and facilities.

That landing area is nighmarish. There is no horisontal strech anywhere at all! Everything is slight hill on every direction. Brrh! Not nice at all. Especially landing downwind and uphill.

another morning

I walked out the door, turned the corner and stopped. There were 2 grey partridges on the grass in front of my car. The male was following a female. Spring!

… and I thought I live in the city.

another sky venture

Two awesome 4-way jumps and I feel alive! I was walking back from those jumps grinning like a first timer. I wish … I only wish … Ahh! What a feeling, what a thrill, what a satisfaction of accomplishment! All the things that 4-way makes me feel.

UPDATE: H-K-O-6 and N-A-Q-7. After the first jump I was out of breath and panting under canopy. I had forgotten the stamina it takes to jump 4-way with skydivers who have 10 times more experience than I do. Just mind-blowing! We got crank out of the door flying. Ahh! Emotions still run high and I feel happy.

another realization

That is it! Finally I hit the edge of my patience and now I do something about the reasons I don’t write lately any more. Major “works” under way. My blog may disappear for some time.

another morning

I am developing an insomnia. About a month or so I have been sleeping only 5 (or maximum 6) hours a night. This is so distressing! I am so tired all the time, but nothing helps. I’ve crashed at 9 PM only to wake up around 3 or 4 AM and I am unable to fall back to sleep. It can’t be stress – at least I don’t feel any stress that would be on that level. I don’t wake up or stay up because there are thoughts of trouble or work circling my head. No, I just wake up and that is it. Can’t see any reason for it whatsoever.

I went to bed around midnight last night and woke up before 6 AM. I could sleep until 7 at least! Another tiresome day ahead. Niuts!

another moment

Low clouds in the evening. Sun is even lower and colouring everything brighter than it usually is. Suddenly you can see that birch trees are greenish already. Summer is coming in all those vivid colours of greens and blues and … dark clouds lighted up by sun below.

a bit witchy

I had a dream 2 nights ago. I dreamt that Mann wrote many posts and that she had a baby boy. I was almost surprised when I woke up and it wasn’t true. That was one vivid dream. Today I had a feeling of déjà vu during my blog circle. Where do dreams come from?

another sky venture

Saturday. Sun was shining and the sky was blue. Went up on the first load with a student and … got the surprise. I was outside instructor. While hanging on the door I thought I will just fall off because my hands were frozen already. Brrrh! That was way too cold! On days like that I envy those students who don’t feel any of it due to their adrenaline rush. Student did really well, only the instructors were frozen. After opening the canopy and turning towards landing area, I spent few minutes trying to warm my hands up because they were too cold for toggle holding. Yep! Two pairs of cloves were mandatory after that first surprise. In the afternoon one of the pilots mentioned something about -20C up on 4 km. I try not to think that it was colder in the morning.

I also made a decent PLF (parachute landing fall) in the afternoon. Landed few meters from tree line on sidewind that was coming over that forest. After realizing that this will be the spot where I make back from long spot – I was totally ready for hard landing. I have to say that it was worse than I expected. I have never before landed on such a bad place before, so I have nothing to compare it with, but I imagined it easier by the theory I teach my students. Now I know better.
